Kaesong Koryo Insam
Insam (ginseng) was used from old times in Korea. Wild insam cultivated in Koryo dynasty was called insam, distinctive from sansam (wild insam). It was cultivated in several areas but the soil, water and weather conditions of Kaesong were most favourable, thus it had biggest and most efficacious insam. Located in the middle of Korea, Kaesong was the capital of Koryo, first unified state of Korea in the midde ages, existed for about 500 years. Now it sits on the Military Demarcation Line, implying tragic division of the nation. Kaesong Koryo Insam has been wide known. It does wonders for exciting the central nervous system, energy and fatigue. It functions anti-radioactivity and anti-cancer, so its medical sphere has been wider than before. Scientific studies have proven that Kaesong Ginseng contains large amounts of healthy ginsenosides.
Lyrurus Tetrix
The black grouse (also known as 'blackgame') is a member of the grouse family Tetraonidae. Roughly the size of a domestic hen, the male, or 'blackcock', has black plumage with a bluish sheen. He has white wing-bars, which are only visible in flight, white under-tail coverts, and a distinctive lyre-shaped tail. The female has grey-brown plumage, (providing excellent camouflage when nesting on the ground) with pale wing bars, and her tail has a slight notch at the end. Both sexes have a red patch called a 'wattle' above each eye. Among its calls are a rapid cackling and a harsh hissing sound. The black grouse is found throughout northern Eurasia, the most southerly populations are found in Kyrgyzstan and North Korea.

Obverse
The obverse portrays the national emblem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which bears the design of a grand hydroelectric power station under Mt. Paektu, the sacred mountain of the revolution, and the beaming light of a five-pointed red star, with ears of rice forming an oval frame, bound with a ribbon bearing the inscription "The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea". The coat of arms is surrounded by the text '조선 민주주의 인민 공화국 중앙 은행' which means the Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, silver content 999, weight 1 OZ, face value 10 won (원) and the year of the mintage.
Reverse
The reverse of Kaesong Koryo Insam coin displays a ginseng plant as a ring with yellow root, green stalk and leaves and red berries. In the center of the coin there is the nominal value 10 won and to the right of the plant there is a text KAESONG KORYO INSAM in semicircle.
Lyrurus Tetrix coin features the image of a black grouse in the center. To the left there is the name of the coin series 'BIRDS OF KOREA' and the nominal value 10 WON, below the bird is inscribed 'LYRURUS TETRIX'.
