Tavid started co-operation with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, who gave the company rights to sell their gold coins. Tavid’s Supervisory Board Chairman, Mr Alar Tamming, and Member of the Supervisory board, Mr Meelis Atonen, went to Pyongyang to sign the agreement.
The first shipment of North Korean gold coins is available from today. The beautiful and rare gold coin series “Wild birds and animals” consists of nine 31-gram coins. The coins are produced in 2007; their gold proof is 999 and denomination 60.000 won. Only 500 pieces of each coin has been produced.
The obverse of the coin shows the North Korean coat of arms and technical data. The reverse depicts an image of a wild bird or animal. Matt and mirror surfaces vary. Gold coins feature elephants, rhinoceros, lemurs, owls, lions, buffalos and hoopoes.
As the coins are very rare in the world they are most suitable for collectors. More specific information about the coins is available HERE.
In the future we plan to offer also other North Korean gold coins.
