Q: Can you verify your identity at Tavid using the Eesti.ee app?

No. Pursuant to Section 21(3) of the Estonian Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Act (RahaPTS) and Tavid’s internal rules, identity verification is only possible on the basis of a physical identity document .

Q: Can I purchase small-denomination US dollars at Tavid?

You can always purchase small-denomination US dollars at Tavid. In a single transaction, we can issue up to 20 banknotes in denominations of $1 and $5 per customer. If you wish to buy more than 20 banknotes in these denominations, a service fee of €3.00 will be charged for each additional set of 20 bills.

Q: My email address has changed. What should I do?

Your registered email address for Tavex ID account is also your username when logging in. It can not be changed in your profile. If your email address has changed, please contact our customer support by calling +372 627 9900 or by email tavid@tavid.ee and we will assist you with changing it.

Q: What is a restrike coin?

A restrike coin is a coin minted in modern times whose design is based on a historical coin. Although it looks like an old historical coin, a restrike is generally a later issue, not an original. A restrike coin is not a counterfeit, and the term “restrike” implies that it meets the weight and gold fineness specifications of the original coin. Restrike coins are minted to preserve historical designs and are used for investment in precious metals.

Q: Does Tavid buy defective investment gold and silver products?

Tavid does purchase defective investment products. If a product or its packaging is significantly compromised, it is considered defective. Defective items can be sold to Tavid as scrap metal, and the price will be determined based on our current metal buyback rates.

Q: Do I have to pay a fee when selling scrap metal at Tavid?

A service fee of 3 euros per transaction applies to every scrap metal deal. Scrap metal includes all gold and silver jewellery, tableware, castings, pellets, and other metal scraps that are not legally classified as investment products.

Q: Do I have to present any documents when buying gold or silver?

For sales and purchases of gold and silver products over 10 000 euros, we are required by Estonian law to identify the person. In order to facilitate the personal identification, the client shall present one of the following documents: – Estonian passport – ID card – Diplomatic passport – Driver’s license issued in Estonia – Passport of a foreign country or a passport of a foreigner NOTE! No transactions will be carried out upon failure to present the document!

Q: Can I cancel the transaction after I have made the payment?

Once you have paid for an investment product order (such as gold, silver, or platinum), it is not possible to cancel the order. If, after making the payment, you wish to cancel the order voluntarily, you may only do so by selling the product back to Tavid in a separate transaction, either at the price listed at the time of the sale or as otherwise agreed with Tavid. Reference to legislation: The customer has the right to withdraw from a transaction under the circumstances stipulated in the VÕS ( Law of Obligations Act) . However, according to § 53(4) point 11 of the VÕS, the 14-day right of withdrawal set out in § 56(1) does not apply to contracts involving items whose prices depend on fluctuations in the financial market that cannot be controlled by the trader (selling party), and which may occur during the withdrawal period. In light of this, the customer does not have the right of withdrawal under § 56(1) of the VÕS for transactions involving precious metal products (including gold and silver coins and bars) or currency.

It is possible to exchange euro banknotes for coins and vice versa. The service fee for the exchange is 5.0% of the amount exchanged, with a minimum fee of €4.00. For information on availability and reservations, please call +372 627 9900.

Q: Does Tavid offer exchange of euro banknotes (larger denominations into smaller ones and vice versa)?

It is possible to exchange smaller euro banknotes for larger ones and vice versa. The service fee for exchanging euro banknotes is 1.0% of the amount exchanged, with a minimum fee of €4.00. For information on the availability of banknotes and to make a reservation, please call +372 627 9900.
